One wedding. One Mabel. One date. Summer Saturdays are limited.

Mabel is a bright blue and white 1971 Volkswagen T2 Early Bay Camper, lovingly restored over four years after a life that began in Seattle and carried her through decades of family adventures. Today, she brings colour, character and a little bit of cheek to wedding days across the Midlands, Cotswolds and beyond. She can carry up to six passengers plus your chauffeur, making her perfect for couples, bridal parties, groomsmen, flower girls, page boys, proud parents or anyone else lucky enough to bag a seat.

We only take one wedding per day, so yours is the only wedding in the diary — no second booking waiting on Mabel, and the hours in your package can sit wherever they work best for you. Your booking is about more than getting from A to B. It is about creating lifelong memories: the arrival, the smiles, the doors opening, the dress settling, the confetti flying and that glorious pause where everyone says, “Oh wow, look at the camper.”

Want to know why Mabel feels so special? Read her full story — from her Seattle beginnings and six families’ worth of memories to a four-year rebirth in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Welcome to Chrome & Confetti, home of Mabel: our beautifully restored 1971 VW Early Bay T2 Camper whose story began in Seattle USA and now continues from her home in Stratford-upon-Avon. Premium vintage VW wedding chauffeur hire across Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, the Midlands and the Cotswolds.

Confetti thrown as Mabel drives newlyweds away, guests waving either side. A father-of-the-bride moment, caught outside the church.

About Us

Hi, I'm Mark

Head of Smiles & Steering

Chrome & Confetti began long before Mabel rolled into Warwickshire. It began with me as a 17 year old teenager, an old originally white VW Beetle called Nigel, a tin of Porsche magenta paint and the start of a lifelong love affair with classic Volkswagens.

Back to the 80's when Kajagoogoo was cool (Yes, Google them!) Nigel was my first proper VW project. There is something about old Volkswagens that gets under your skin. The curves, the sound, the smell, the tinkering, the smiles from strangers who suddenly feel like they have to wave. They are never just vehicles. They are little memory-making machines with wheels.

After more than 35 years in commercial transport, entertainment and hospitality, I finally had the chance to semi-retire early and build something that felt properly personal. I wanted to create a wedding service that brought together the things I genuinely care about: brilliant customer experience, thoughtful detail, calm planning, warm hospitality and, of course, one very photogenic VW camper with excellent ribbon potential. That became Chrome & Confetti.

This is a small, personal and family-minded business, not a big faceless hire company. From your first enquiry to the moment Mabel pulls up on the day, you will be dealing directly with me. I will check Mabel's diary, talk through your plans, help sense-check timings, understand who is travelling, and arrive on the day as your chauffeur — calm, prepared, friendly and probably slightly overinvested in making sure everything feels just right.

With Mabel, I wanted to create vintage VW wedding transport that feels polished but never stiff, premium but never pretentious, and relaxed without ever being careless. She brings the chrome, the colour and the “oh wow, look at the camper” moment. I bring the planning, the service, the timing and the steady hand on the wheel.

We are playful, but never slapdash. Cheeky, but never casual about your wedding. Detail-focused, but not clipboard-wielding joy thieves. Chrome & Confetti exists to give couples something beautifully memorable, wonderfully personal and just a little bit different.

And behind that warm, personal service is a genuinely organised process. Every enquiry runs through my own dedicated booking and communication system, from your very first message to your wedding day arrival, so nothing gets missed, forgotten or left to chance. You get the personal touch of dealing directly with me, backed by the reassurance of a proper process — the best of both.

Meet Mabel

A fifty-year-old soul, a four-year restoration, and a habit of making people smile before she's even parked.

Mabel in her original mustard yellow, picnicking by the water in Seattle.

Mabel's lifetime timeline, from 1971 in Seattle to Chrome & Confetti in 2026.

2026 — Mabel
Stratford-upon-Avon, UK

Mabel's story began in Seattle in 1971, on the misty edge of America, dressed back then in bold mustard yellow and ready for a life on the road. Over the years, Mabel passed through six different families. Not passed on as something unwanted, but handed over like all good old things should be: with care, history and the understanding that the next person was becoming her newest custodian.

Eventually, after decades of life and miles, Mabel crossed the Atlantic and found her way to Stratford-upon-Avon. By then, she was tired in the way beautiful old things sometimes are. Not finished. Not forgotten. Just waiting for someone patient enough to bring her back properly. That is where her second love story began.

For four years, Mabel was restored with care, patience and frankly quite a lot of stubborn determination. She was rebuilt from the chassis upwards, panel by panel, bolt by bolt, detail by detail. Nothing was rushed, nothing was bodged, and nothing was done just because it would “probably do”.

From Seattle to Stratford-upon-Avon — Mabel's own journey before she ever met a wedding day.

Today, she wears her crisp blue-and-white bodywork, polished chrome and wedding ribbons with quiet confidence. Inside, she has orange, white and blue Lamborghini leather, chosen because ordinary was never really going to be her thing, and a large fridge ready for chilled water, Champagne, soft drinks or whatever celebratory treat you would like waiting on the day.

Her name was stitched together from the people closest to the man who rebuilt her, which is why she has always felt like more than a vehicle. Mabel is family with wheels. When Mabel pulls up outside a church, register office, barn, manor house, hotel, garden venue or country lane, she is not just transport. She becomes part of the moment.

Quality matters, corners aren't for cutting

Choosing Mabel is also a small celebration of restoration, reuse and making beautiful things last. Mabel lives inside, her mileage is limited, and her work is occasional, and from October to April she’s tucked up in the garage for her beauty sleep and a full spa treatment. She receives regular services and an annual voluntary MOT/inspection because quality matters, corners are not for cutting, and your wedding day deserves more than just the legal minimum.

Mabel can carry up to six passengers plus me (your dedicated wedding car planner and chauffeur for the day) — perfect for couples, bridal parties, groomsmen, flower girls, page boys, parents or anyone lucky enough to be given a seat. If you would like her to be part of your day, send us your wedding date, venue details and a little of your story, and I'll personally check Mabel's diary for you.

FAQs

Practical questions, clearly answered

Groomsmen, a barn, and a well-earned pint. Getting ready for their turn in the spotlight. Waving through the window — the family send-off. Groomsmen holding court in front of Mabel's door.
How many passengers can Mabel carry?

Mabel can carry up to six passengers plus me, your chauffeur, depending on dresses, comfort and space, making her a flexible choice for vintage VW Camper wedding transport. One passenger seat, at the front beside me, has a seat belt, so we can carry at most one child under three; please tell us any children’s ages when you enquire. We will always talk through your passenger plans in advance to make sure the journey is comfortable and suitable for your wedding party.

Where do you offer VW camper wedding hire?

We are based in Stratford-upon-Avon and cover Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, the Midlands and the Cotswolds. If your venue is just outside these areas, please just ask us anyway. Mabel has literally travelled the globe, she's adventurous so loves a journey (within reason).

What does the 50-mile round journey allowance include?

Each package includes a 50-mile round journey, measured from Mabel's home base in Stratford-upon-Avon and back again. If your collection points, ceremony and reception venues mean your day is likely to go over that, just let us know when you enquire — we'll give you a bespoke quote for the extra mileage rather than a fixed per-mile rate, since every route and timing is different.

Do you only provide VW camper hire for weddings?

Yes, we only do weddings, and that includes civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, wherever they take place. Every Chrome & Confetti wedding is covered by specialist chauffeured wedding-hire insurance, covering Mabel's full capacity of six passengers plus chauffeur, and our insurance terms won't allow us to provide any additional Mabel services outside of weddings, sorry.

Can we view Mabel before booking?

Absolutely, and there is no charge for this. If you would like to meet Mabel before making a decision, we can arrange a viewing by appointment. It is a lovely way to see her colour, space and personality properly, and to work out how she could fit into your day.

Do you take more than one wedding per day?

No, absolutely not. Mabel has standards, you know. We only take one wedding per day so your booking has our full and undivided attention, your timetable has breathing space and nobody feels rushed.

What happens if the weather is terrible?

We are based in England, so we plan for four seasons in one day, whether that means sunshine, drizzle, dramatic skies and everything in between. Mabel has umbrellas and cosy blankets on board as standard, and we will always do what we can to keep things calm, practical and of course photo-friendly for all.

Can Mabel be dressed to match our wedding colours?

Absolutely, yes — Mabel loves dressing up. We can dress Mabel with ribbons and bows to complement your colour scheme on the day. Whether you want classic ivory, soft pastels, bold brights or something a little bit unexpected, we will talk through the options and your requirements before you confirm your booking, including flowers to match the day if you would like them.

Can we have photographs with Mabel?

Yes, she would be upset if you didn't. Mabel is very photogenic and mildly vain about it. We build various photo times into our packages, whether that is couple portraits, family shots, bridal party fun or a quick newlywed moment away from the crowd. And if you would like a few photos on your own phone, I am always happy to take them.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we supply chilled water as standard for all Mabel's passengers on the day. If you want something in addition, just tell us what you would like — whether that is Champagne, wine, beer or soft drinks — and we will have it ready and waiting, super chilled in Mabel's large fridge. Mints, tissues, hand fans and a little emergency kit are on board too, just in case.

How far in advance should we book?

As early as possible please, especially for peak wedding season, bank holidays and popular weekends. Once your date, venue and timings are taking shape, send us a quick enquiry and we will personally check Mabel's diary for you. She only does one wedding per day, and she does hate disappointing people.

When does Mabel do weddings?

Mabel takes weddings from May to September. From October to April she’s having her beauty sleep – tucked up in the garage for the full spa treatment: a service, a wax and polish, and a jolly good back scrub. (She’s worth it.) It’s all part of why she turns up gleaming on your big day.

How do we secure our date?

If Mabel is available and you are happy with your quotation, your date is secured once your Booking Agreement is signed and your 33% booking deposit has been paid. Until both are in, the date stays open to other couples. The remaining balance and final timings will be confirmed in line with the booking terms we provide at enquiry stage.

Can you tailor a package around our day?

Absolutely — every Mabel day is shaped around the couple. Your package is the starting point, not a set menu. Tell us about your day in the enquiry form — the timings, the people travelling and the little touches that matter to you — and we'll suggest the package that fits and shape it around your day. Everything is confirmed in your personalised quotation, so there are no surprises.

Can you help with timings?

Yes. With years of hospitality and event experience behind us, we are very happy to help sense-check timings, routes, waiting time and photo opportunities. We cannot control traffic, tractors or Auntie Sue deciding she has lost her handbag, but we can plan properly around the things we can control. And if none of our packages quite fits your day, we will happily tailor-make one around it.

What if Mabel has a mechanical problem?

Mabel is meticulously maintained, with regular services, a voluntary annual MOT and a check-over before every wedding, so problems are very rare, if ever. We also carry breakdown and recovery cover. But we'd rather be honest with you: on the day itself, a replacement vehicle rarely arrives in time to save the moment. If we're ever unable to fulfil your confirmed booking, you'll receive a full refund of everything you've paid.

Can we use Mabel if our ceremony and reception are at the same venue?

Absolutely, yes. If you are spending the whole day at one venue, we can add an optional “Just Married” drive or relaxed photo session so you still get that newlywed escape, the vintage VW moment and the photographs without needing a traditional transfer. Think of it as a little pocket of calm between the ceremony and the celebrations.

Who checks parking and access at the venue?

We will ask you to confirm suitable parking, access and any width, height or rural-track restrictions with your venue ahead of the day. Mabel is adventurous, but she is still a classic VW, so a little practical checking helps everything run smoothly.

Is Mabel easy to get in and out of?

Mabel has a standard camper-width door and we have a step available to help with getting in and out. I will also be on hand to assist where appropriate, and we are always happy to talk through comfort or mobility considerations before the day.

Is Chrome & Confetti an inclusive wedding supplier?

Completely. Love is love, families come in all shapes and sizes and wedding days should feel like that too. We are here for joyful couples, chosen families, big parties, small gatherings and anyone who wants their wedding transport to feel warm, welcoming and memorable.

How will I know what's happening with my booking?

Good question, and one we take seriously. Every enquiry runs through its own tracked journey from first message to wedding day, so nothing gets missed. You'll receive a personalised written quotation, a clear booking agreement, a dedicated Wedding Day Overview nearer the time, and friendly updates at each milestone — the planning call, the balance reminder, the final checks — so you always know exactly where things stand, without needing to chase us for it.
